The Great Indoors…

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited; imagination encircles the world.
John Mayer’s song “The Great Indoors” is a very complex song with multiple stories/meanings behind it.

For most people the thought or idea about living life to the fullest naturally comes first. Some however  become scared of getting hurt or the shreek  at the thought of doing things they normally wouldn’t do. They get agoraphobia(panic disorder or anxiety) at the sheer thought.

I miss the days of having an adventure indoors. As a child you would build a fort in the living room out pillows, cushions and blankets. The good ol’ days. As an adult indoors don’t have the same impact on us as they us to. Our imagination isn’t the same. You sit on the couch alone watching tv when its raining. So whats missing from making the indoors the “great indoors”?

You might say a childhood mentality. John might say someone special to share the indoors with. The great indoors becomes great when you have someone to share it with. That person that changes your outlook on things that makes the indoors become a whole new world.

Don’t be afraid of having an adventure or venturing to the unknown. Life is full of wonderful people and wonderful memories waiting to share for you.

Congrats to my amazing friend and her fiance. I wish you both the best in the future you share together.

Grace and Nolan Cheers

…Part II

This is part 2 of “…”

According to Webster Dictionary Blog: Pronunciation: \ˈblȯg, ˈbläg\Function: noun Etymology: short for Weblog Date: 1999: a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer.

As some of you may know Simplicity∞Beyond is not know for being a journal, but more of random segments of simple feeds of information/articles. Sometimes change is good. Adding that journal aspect gives us that sense of being human or having a soul. I left part one with this thought: “it’s not you it’s me” that’s what she said. So, a week or so has passed from the official ending of that escapade and I didn’t think it was going to be this hard to just go with the flow and move on. I recently stumbled across the artist G-Eazy and his albums. I don’t normally listen to a lot of rap but there is one track on his album “Must Be Nice” that stuck out to me more than the others. It’s called “Marilyn”.

G-Eazy Marilyn:

“I want to love you
But if it’s not right what can I do?
Everything will be alright
So baby get some sleep tonight.”

There is a gentlemen I met by the name of Sheim Francis at Edens Coffee House. He has done a few open mic performances there. His performance dazzled and inspired the crowd. After hearing who he was and his ability to paint a story solely on the words he spoken; it has inspired me to give it a try. He wrote a book called My Journey, Poetic. This is my attempt on being a poet, so be gentle.

The words that you once displayed
Through actions of compassion
Will never be forgotten
And The love I once had
Will never be depleted
Cause the way you looked at me like I was the only one
Lit up my world like a new found sun.

We use to talk all day,
Couldn’t fall asleep but couldn’t stay awake.
And every moment that I got,
Including my 930 to 11 O’clock was spent by your side.
We would lay around lazily, always having fun.
We were each other’s number one.
But I look at us now and see
We’ve fallen through the drain pipes.

Months went by filled with pure happiness and bliss
Time seemed to slow down
through every waking moment spent with you
and come to a standstill with every tender kiss
But in reality time died
I give it my condolences

Now we’re here distant and alone.
Without your warm embrace I’m in a snow storm
You meant the world to me
and I to you
I thought we both didn’t want us to end
But all I can do now
Is leave it in God’s hands.

“I want to love you
But if it’s not right what can I do?
Everything will be alright
So baby get some sleep tonight”

I want it,
you want it
so who are we fooling here.

“That’s why you and I ended over U N I
And I said that’s fine, but you’re the only one that knows I lied
You and I ended over U N I
And I said that’s fine, but you’re the only one that knows I lied”

We made each other happy
But now what can I do
Watch you in the arms of some other dude
He can’t make you as happy
And he can’t make you as free

I hope one day you see
These three months
Were just the beginning of you and me.

Coffee for the Soul.

I recently partnered up with some friends to start up a family friendly coffee shop.  It was quite a  leap of faith.  One of the partners told me to read this book A Lion in a Pit On a Snowy Day by Mark Batterson  Now, I’m not a very big reader, but someone once told me if you want to find out if a book is interesting,  read the first five pages.   I did and I am hooked on it and it is inspiring me to go after my dreams.  Eden’s Coffee House is a big part of my dreams.

Eden’s Coffee House is not just a coffee house full of amazing exotic aromas and mellow music; it’s also  house filled with magic.  Just joshin. It’s filled with LOVE.  Even if you’re just passing by, you still get that feeling of being accepted, feeling at home,  and feeling downright comfortable.  So far, we have an open mic event once a month.  At our last event, various artists performed.  Patrons were entertained by poetry and  music as they sipped on delicious coffee, ate  dessert, and mingled.

The Mentor of the counselor…

I love music. You could say it’s what makes the world go round. Music is everywhere. There is something mysterious about music. You’re feeling under the weather or just gloomy, you turn on your radio… and there it is the perfect song to lift your spirits, and make you feel alive. One thing I’ve always loved about music is how simple it can change your mood. Back when it was affordable to take road trips, my mom would put the radio to Delilah. People from around the nation would tune in to her. I personally believe she is the best disc jockey out there; not like techno or club dj’s but radio dj. Delilah has this way with her audience. She gives them this sense of security. She has a simple soft voice, like a comforting mother, as she gives genuine heart-felt advice.

Delilah gets calls in all the time from people either wanting to play a song or just good old fashion advice. And the song is the icing on the cake. Any problem you have whether its dealing with the loss of a loved one, to getting married to your true love; Delilah has the perfect song for you. And the song is always the perfect song like it was meant for you at that specific moment in time.

The Arts…

I am a big fan of the arts. There are many forms of art, but dance is one that combines them all together in a very simple yet elegant way. Dance is a simple form of expressing yourself.

I love break-dancing.   It’s truly an amazing form of dance.  It is totally different from all other types of dance.  Breaking originated through a very famous man, James “The King of Soul” Brown. When the king  got hyped up, he would get down on his good foot. Breaking was originally named “good foot” and was later changed to B-Boy. Back then it wasn’t all this flippady floppady, mumbo jumbo, acrobatic and head spinning action you see now as the old school good footers would say. Breaking back then consisted of clean footwork, top rock, and floor rock. One of the biggest competitions for breakers across the world is BC One held by Red Bull. BC One started in 2004 inviting breakers world wide to compete. In 2012, there will be around 60 Cyphers in 45 countries, leading to 6 Qualifiers culminating in this year’s finals in Rio de Janeiro in November. In the B-Boy world dance has evolved from a simple way of expressing yourself to what it is now known as a lifestyle.

For those of you who are smooth suave people tap is a remarkable form of dance. Tap is another very unique style that is as simple as tapping your feet, yet becomes the complex story that is told through your movement. Not only does it tell a story but it also portrays a complementary beat to go along with the music that you are dancing to. Tap dancing became known in the mid 1800’s. Irish step dancing, or tap, was later associated with the jazzy style of music. Many artists such as Sammy Davis Jr., Gregory Hines, The Clark Brothers, Bill Cosby, Shirley Temple and Dick Van Dyke incorporated that their tap with arts.
